Troy
Shondell
Although
TROY SHONDELL is best known for his bittersweet ballad about love
gone bad, titled "This Time (We're Really Breaking Up)", which
sold nearly 3 million copies in the early 60's on Liberty Records.
That's only part of the story. Before he changed his name to TROY,
he recorded on the Mercury and Smash label, under the name of
Gary Shelton. His rockabilly record of "Kissing At The Drive-In"
was actually his first hit. Other records also went well both
in America and the European Markets. Unlike his ballad "This Time",
TROY is one of just a handful of Hard Rock 50/60's artist still
performing. Almost every song in his show is performed at an energy
level that defies any audience to keep their seats and not get
up and start dancing. In fact, he invites audience participation
in singing and dancing. He does however throw in a couple of belly
rubbers just so everyone can get a good breath and bring back
a few great memories. TROY has written and recorded over 17 national
chart records. However, if you prefer all laid back sounds, then
TROY'S not for you. But if you prefer the Little Richard, Frankie
Ford and Chuck Berry lever, then TROY SHONDELL will get the job
done. His soon to be released CD will feature all his early rockabilly
to rock & roll recordings from 1959 to 1976. Plus two new remakes
of "Slow Down" & "Rockin' Pneumonia". Other selections from the
CD include, "C'mon Everybody", "You Can't Catch Me", "Girl After
Girl", "Just Because", "Let's Go All The Way", "Rip It Up", "My
Girl Josephine", "Goodbye Little Darlin'", "Kissing' At The Drive-In",
and of course "This Time (We're Really Breaking Up)" plus 9 more.
Items of Interest: TROY has recorded for 5 major labels, Liberty,
Mercury, Decca, Epic and Smash. He toured as lead singer for the
Riviera's when California Sun topped the charts. He won BMI's
song of the year award as writer of "Still Loving You" in 1974.
