Kathy
Young
Kathy
Young began her singing career in Jr. High School by winning the
talent contest two years in a row , but had a love for singing
since she was about 5 years old. She started writing songs in
her early teens like: "Eddie My Darling", "Someone
To Love", and "I'll Love That Man." The love anthem
of the era, "A Thousand Stars", propelled Kathy Young
to the top of the charts and gave us all the memories of "young"
love. At 14 years old Kathy auditioned for and was signed by Indigo
Records. She cut a test record with "The Innocents"
and shortly after they became Kathy Young and The Innocents. They
performed on American Bandstand several times where Kathy received
her first gold record. In 1963, Kathy began working with Chris
Montez as "Chris & Kathy" and recorded "All
You Had To Do Was Tell Me", "It Takes Two", and
several others. In 1965, she married John Maus of the "Walker
Brothers" who at the time were riding high on the charts
with "Make It Easy On Yourself", and moved to England
where she chose to end her career so that he could pursue his.
Kathy Young is back, after a thirty year hiatus and is currently
performing in venues nationwide and puts together a terrific show
that will surely bring back fond memories.
